Breast Cancer Survivors Antarctica Expedition - The Strength And Spirit Of Women

09 October 2012

 Update:

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Globaleye will donate$100 to the Breast Cancer Arabia Foundation for every new Critical Illness Plan taken out during October 2013.

Every now and again a group of people come together and do something truly fantastic to raise awareness for a cause. Linda Berlot, a Globaleye client, will be doing just that.

In December 2012 a multi-national team of women, all breast cancer survivors, will journey to the ends of the earth and challenge themselves in one of the last major wildernesses of our planet – ANTARCTICA.

Flying to Buenos Aires and onto Ushuaia the team will embark on M/v Plancius, a purpose built ice vessel perfect for exploring all the Jewels the Antarctica has to offer. Over the 11 day expedition the team will have the opportunity to kayak, snow shoe, shore camp, summit on two peaks (Mt Demoria and Jabet Peak) photograph & interact with the diverse wildlife of the region.

The expedition is the first and only one to be taken by a team of breast cancer survivors from the UAE so the women on this journey will be making modern day adventure history as well as being beacons of light and hope for thousands of other women around the globe as roving ambassadors.

The three main advocates of this expedition are: AWARENESS, EDUCATION AND PREVENTION. This once in a lifetime adventure will be filmed, photographed and documented prior, during and post expedition so that the personal and team stories can be shared with as many people as possible in the form of a short film and book to celebrate and honor the strength & spirit of women who have faced the life threatening challenge of breast cancer , have overcome it and evolved as true warriors – courageous, compassionate with a new found vitality to live life to the fullest and encourage other women to take charge of their health.
