In celebration of 26 years of Swiss Business in Singapore, the SBA hosted its annual gala dinner at the newly designed Grand Salon ballroom of Grand Hyatt Singapore on the 24th of May 2014. Globaleye proudly sponsored the gala for the second year running alongside other esteemed sponsors like UBS, Julius Baer, BSI, and Zurich.
The theme of the night was Extravaganza, and the 310 guests who graced the event came adorned in the most dazzling of dresses and crisp tuxedos. Even the table decorations were set according to theme, with a unique vegetable table setting design set in place.
To kick start the evening, SBA chairman Mr Christian Pauli had the honour of ringing the authentic Swiss cowbell as tradition, to invite guests into the grand ballroom with a specially designed show kitchen on display.
Guests were treated to an exquisite 4-course dinner prepared by Grand Hyatt’s executive Sous Chef, Stefan Beer, who used truffles and saffron that were imported in specially from Switzerland, as one of the main ingredients. Top baker, Mr Jean-Paul Veziano, who once worked for superchef Alain Ducasse and who has also baked bread for the royal wedding in Monaco was flown in from France to bake 1400 bread for all the guests.
The evening was filled with great treats as generously sponsored lucky draw prizes worth over $50,000 were won throughout the night. Such prizes include a set of tickets to watch the Davis Cup in Switzerland, as well as a 9L bottle of red wine! Again, two of Globaleye’s invitees were lucky draw winners.
Globaleye hired three sexy hostesses for the evening dressed as sailors in pink hats who roamed around the cocktail reception offering a sunset cruise around Singapore’s islands to a lucky winner, who received the prize voucher that very evening along with a giant cheque from Globaleye’s very own Jeremy Grey.
Expert events organizer Claude Verly who created and has managed the gala dinner for its 10th year, brought in again the best entertainment SBA has seen in the last 10 years.
Freshly graduated acting students from Lasalle College of the Arts Dominique de Marco, Liam Sutton and Chanel Ariel began the evening with a wine scene act. Performing after was Axel Reveney, who acted as a truffle hunter with the help of his trusty dog Lulu. This scene was a live imitation of Swiss truffle connoisseur Frank Siffert, who was flown in specially for the event by Swiss International Air Lines.
As the show kitchen within the ballroom was revealed, Asia’s Top All-Vocal Group MICappella gave a stunning performance that blew the crowd away. Disguised as chefs in the show kitchen, they performed 3 a cappella tunes, which got the audience swaying to the catchy beats.
To end the evening, the top jazz band who were all dressed in chef outfits, performed a lively hour long set with hard-hitting rhythms as guests were treated to a scrumptious buffet of cheese and desserts.
The gala dinner was once again the highlight of SBA’s event calendar. Indeed, it was a spectacular and sensational evening of celebration, food and wine, as well as entertainment!
